The Story: Meet Will Freeman (Hugh Grant), a charming but aimless man coasting through life on royalties from his father’s hit song. His carefree world collides with that of 12-year-old Marcus Brewer (Nicholas Hoult in his breakout role), a quirky boy struggling to navigate school bullies and care for his chronically depressed single mother, Fiona (Toni Collette).

As their unlikely friendship grows, Will discovers a sense of responsibility while helping Marcus—and, in turn, Marcus teaches Will what it truly means to connect with others.
